Night curfew to continue in West Garo Hills

Tura, March 19: The district administration of West Garo Hills has ordered the continuation of the ongoing night curfew across the district, reaffirming restrictions already in place for over a week.

According to the latest order issued by Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal on March 19, 2026, the curfew will remain in force daily from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM until further notice.

The administration cited continued concerns over law and order following incidents of violence and public disturbances in different parts of the district.

The DC said that, after reviewing reports from law enforcement agencies, it was necessary to maintain strict preventive measures to avoid further escalation and to restore normalcy.

During curfew hours, movement outside residences remains prohibited within the district limits. Authorities have directed police and magistrates to strictly enforce the restrictions.

Any violation of the curfew will invite legal action under relevant provisions of law, officials added.

The order has been issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and will remain effective until further directives are issued.
