Shillong, Oct 23: Deputy Chief Minister and NPP state president Prestone Tynsong has ruled out any cabinet reshuffle soon in the wake of the repeated defections, first from the UDP to the BJP and then again from the UDP to the NPP.
Replying to a media query on Thursday, Tysong said there was no precondition for the three former UDP MLAs joining the ruling NPP recently.
“In the cabinet, it is already there. They have their assignment,” Tynsong replied, albeit indirectly.
To a specific query if Paul Lyngdoh would get a cabinet berth, Tynsong said, “I am Deputy CM, but I don’t know anything about that… I am asking you because I also don’t know.”
Denying any pressure from the BJP, which has its strength jumped from just two to 19 MLAs, Tynsong said, “No such pressure, nothing of that sort.”
NPP’s poll preparations
Deputy Chief Minister and NPP state president Prestone Tynsong on Thursday said the party has geared up for the upcoming Shillong Lok Sabha bye-elections and then the GHADC elections.
Tynsong said he had been is touring and meeting party leaders at all levels to gear up for the elections.
“I wanted as state president of the party to meet all the leaders not only from the district, but even in the constituency and village level,” he said.
“We have already requested all the members of the NPP up to the village level to work harder and also to reach out to each and every household in Shillong parliamentary constituency,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said, the party is also preparing for the GHADC elections to be held next year.
