Shillong, July 22: The passing out parade of recruited non-combatant personnel was held after successful completion of their 5th Basic Training Course at Agillangre Field in Tura on Wednesday.
Director of Civil Defence and Inspector General, SDRF, Merinpole K Sangma inspected the parade before formal induction of the new recruits.
The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by PT Sangma, Divisional Commandant, Home Guards, Tura.
Besides the dignitaries, the parade was attended by family members of new recruits and local residents.
Special awards were presented to trainees who stood out in physical training, drill and overall conduct during the course.
In his address, Sangma briefed on increasing role of Civil Defence and urged the new personnel to carry out their duties with commitment, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.
