NPP to keep its focus on Meghalaya: Ampareen

Shillong, Apr 21: The National People’s Party (NPP) will hold its first national executive committee meeting in Shillong on April 24.

Informing this on Monday, NPP national secretary and cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said, “I am sure the people of Meghalaya will be privileged to be addressed by the national president on all of our plans and actions to be taken in the next coming three-year term of this executive body.”

She also expressed her gratefulness to NPP national president Conrad K Sangma and national working president James K Sangma for considering her fit to serve the party as a national secretary.

Emphasising the party’s continuous focus on Meghalaya, she said, “I will ensure that while we operate in the North East and the rest of India, we must not forget about issues that are close to the people of the state of Meghalaya.”

She said she looks forward to assignments in her capacity in the party to highlight issues of the North East.

Referring to a “silence debate” over national status of NPP, she said the people are yet to understand the party’s role in uniting the entire North East.

“This is a wrong perception of our party and I believe that as a party, we must inculcate the need for a united North East voice,” she said.

She also pointed out that there are lot of takers for NPP tickets across India.
