NSTDA asks CBI to clarify on temple construction

Shillong, Aug 6: The New Shillong Township Development Agency (NSTDA) has sought a clarification from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on reported construction of a religious temple on its campus, which is a government land, at Mawdiangdiang.

In a letter to the CBI, the Agency under Urban Affairs department said it had received inputs from KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle and the Director of Land Records and Survey about the alleged construction.

The letter issued by Director Urban Affairs-cum-NSTDA Member Secretary P Kr Boro on August 4 was addressed to the DIG, CBI, ACB Shillong.

The Member Secretary pointed out that the land was leased to the CBI in November 2018 for an office-cum-residential complex.

As per Clause 10 of the lease, “the lessee shall not construct any structure, or alter any structure erected on the said land without prior permission of the Agency”, it said.
