Pahalgam attack against teachings of Islam: SMU

Shillong, Apr 25: The Shillong Muslim Union (SMU) has unequivocally condemned the terrorist attack on tourists at Pahalgam, and said such heinous acts are against the core teachings of Islam.

“We express our deepest sorrow and solidarity with the victims and their families during this time of grief,” SMU general secretary Alhaj Sayeedullah Nongrum said in a statement.

Terming the act as inhumane, he said it also stands in “complete contradiction to the core teachings of Islam, which promotes peace, compassion and the sanctity of human life.”

“We firmly reject all forms of terrorism and extremism, regardless of the perpetrators or their claimed motivations,” he said.

The SMU also called upon the authorities to take swift and just action against those responsible and urges all communities to unite against hatred and violence.
