Paramedical union writes to NHM director on salary hike delay

Shillong, Aug 11: The 108 paramedical staff union has written to the Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Ramakrishna Chitturi, seeking immediate attention to the delay in their salary increment or enhancements.

The letter, written under the banner of the Meghalaya EMRI Workers’ Union (MEMRIWU), highlighted the difficulties faced by the workers in meeting their daily requirements due to the high cost of living.

According to the letter, the matter of salary enhancement was already discussed during a meeting held between the union and the Mission Director on May 27, 2025.

The union had suggested an increment of Rs 5,000 to each employee’s current salary.

While the matter is being analyzed, the workers have learned that sufficient funds are available for the increment.

“As discussed earlier, the matter of adding 5000 each will be properly checked and analyzed whether it is possible or not. We have been following this matter and learned that the fund is sufficient enough to be added. Sir, as the cost of living is very high, it is very difficult to reach our daily requirement,” the union stated in the letter.

“We deeply request you to please take initiative and immediate action regarding the above mentioned issue in order to meet our financial commitments,” the union stated in the letter. We are waiting for your final decision and approval,” it added.
