Speaking to reporters on Friday, the group demanded for adequate recruitment in government sector as well as facilitation of pharmaceutical industries in the state to create more job opportunities for the qualified pharmacists.

Quoting information received through RTI, the pharmacists said the government has not yet conducted any recruitment through advertisement for sanctioned posts of pharmacist under Directorate of Health Services (DHS).

“In this regard, we request you to kindly initiate a fair and inclusive recruitment whereby all pharmacists, sponsored and non-sponsored candidates, are allowed to compete for the positions,” they said.

On the need to increase job opportunities, the pharmacists said, “We would like to request the government to increase the job opportunities for the youths, who have completed pharmacy courses, by setting up pharmaceutical industries in our state.”

They further suggested the need to increase the manpower of pharmacists to meet the IPHS standards in all the facilities such as district hospital, CHCs, PHCs and sub-centre besides appointing more drug inspectors at every district in the state.
