Plying of heavy vehicles banned in selected EKH roads

Shillong, Dec 17: The district administration of East Khasi Hills District has issued an order prohibiting heavy loaded vehicles carrying more than 9 MT from plying on the Thangsning-Thynroit-Mawpyrshong Road and the Mawkynrew-Mynsang-Jatah Road.

The order, promulgated under Section 163 BNSS, aims to prevent further damage to the roads, which have been suffering due to the movement of overloaded vehicles.

According to reports, the continued plying of such vehicles poses a significant safety risk to local commuters and threatens the integrity of public property.

Violators will face legal action, said the order.
