PM POSHAN cooks seek pay hike

Shillong, Apr 5: The cook-cum-helpers engaged in the flagship PM POSHAN scheme, have urged the state government to impress upon the Centre to raise their honorarium, which has allegedly remained stagnant for decades.

Their current honorarium is Rs 900 per month, according to Union of Cook-cum-Helpers PM POSHAN, Meghalaya.

A delegation of the Union led by its president Gina Nengnong on Friday met the secretary in-charge Education Swapnil Tembe to seek redressal of their grievances.

Tembe, meanwhile, said the issues raised by the Union are being actively pursued at several levels with the Government of India.

“The Union has a high hope that within this month of April, the Government of India will consider this long- pending request (for enhancing the honorarium),” said Khroo L Pariat, an adviser of the Union.
