Shillong, April 15: The state police are awaiting the post-mortem report in the death of a 16-year-old Class X student whose body was found at Umpling bridge.
Speaking on the inquiry into the recent death, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem on Wednesday said preliminary findings do not point to homicide.
“The inquiry on that, we had not received the post mortem yet. It does not appear at the moment to be a case of homicide and it appears otherwise. We will come out with a clear picture and facts of the case once the post mortem report is received and also other inquiries done,” he said.
When asked, the SP said, “It points towards that direction but we will ascertain that after we get the post mortem report and also toxicological report.”
