Political parties briefed on SGH electoral roll revision

Baghmara, July 15: A meeting was held with representatives from all the political parties by the District Election Office South Garo Hills Baghmara in view of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral rolls on Wednesday.

The Deputy Commissioner (Election) Manoranjan R Marak highlighted the series of activities undertaken by the District Election machinery during the SIR process. He also appraised the need to ensure transparency, accuracy and inclusiveness in the Electoral roll and briefed the political representatives the roles and responsibilities of BLA’s.

It may be noted that South Garo Hills District has distributed a total of 92% enumeration forms covering 110488 total of registered and eligible voters in all the 171 polling stations.

Of all the three Assembly Constituencies, Rongara Siju Constituency has achieved 88% coverage while Chokpot Assembly Constituency and Baghmara Assembly Constituency has recorded 91% and 96% coverage till July 15 official records.
