Nearly 2,000 ST students face Aadhaar-linkage hurdle

Shillong, Apr 23: Barring nearly 2,000 students with Aadhaar linkage “problem”, funds for all the pending post-matric scholarship 2023-24 of over 13,000 ST students has been transferred to the bank for further disbursal.

“11,858 out of 13,719 pending beneficiaries have had their payment files successfully generated and submitted to the bank for processing,” stated commissioner and secretary Education, Vijay Kumar Mantri, while giving an update on the disbursement status of the scholarship ST students for 2023-24 academic session.

He also said the concerned bank has been requested to expedite the transfer of funds to ensure timely credit to the beneficiaries’ accounts.

However, he added, discrepancies in Aadhaar-bank account linkage have been identified in case of the remaining 1,861 beneficiaries.

“To address this, an SMS notification was sent to the affected students on April 22, requesting them to complete the necessary verification process within 15 days to facilitate the release of their scholarships,” he said.

In case of any query, the official urged the students to dial CM CONNECT helpline ‘1971’ or ‘18003456851’ or department numbers 7005037347/9077574956.
