Probe into killing of Dilseng M Sangma: No stone left unturned, says police

Tura, Jan 21: Police have assured of leaving no stone unturned in the probe into the killing of activist Dilseng M Sangma at Goalgaon, Rajabala in West Garo Hills recently.

Informing that eight persons have been arrested so far in connection with the incident, district superintendent of police Abraham T Sangma on Tuesday said the police would leave no stone unturned to apprehend all absconding persons involved in the crime.

The SP while assuring that intensive operations are under way to nab the remaining accused, also stated that the overall law-and-order situation in the district remains peaceful and under control, including the border areas.

“There has been no untoward incident so far. However, the police are closely monitoring the situation, and if any issue arises, it will be dealt with promptly,” he said.

Meanwhile, the SP informed, a quarry owner and a sawmill owner are also among the eight arrested persons.

All necessary precautionary measures have been taken and senior police officials and higher authorities are continuously monitoring the developments, he said.

The SP also credited the SIT headed by SDPO, Dadenggre, RA Sangma for its dedicated efforts and coordinated investigation, leading to arrest of the eight accused.

Responding to queries regarding public demands on social media to reveal identity and faces of the arrested persons, the SP said as per Supreme Court and High Court guidelines, the faces of accused persons cannot be shown. He cautioned that such actions could hamper the investigation and violate legal provisions.
