Maibang (Assam), Feb 12: The National People’s Party (NPP) has made inroads into the Dima Hasao autonomous region of Assam by roping in an influential leader, Daniel Langthasa, at Maibang on Thursday.

Langthasa joined the party along with a huge number of his supporters, marking a significant political development in Dima Hasao and the party’s growing presence in the region.

Welcoming the Dimasa leader and his supporters to the party fold, NPP national president Conrad K Sangma said the induction reflects the growing trust of people in the party’s vision of development rooted in respect for tribal identity, indigenous rights, and grassroots aspirations.

He emphasised that the NPP remains committed to empowering indigenous communities while ensuring inclusive development, improved connectivity, and greater opportunities for youth across the Northeast.

He also reiterated the party’s commitment to the vision of a stronger and more connected “One Northeast,” where states and communities work together for shared progress while preserving their unique cultural heritage and identity.

NPP national working president James K Sangma, vice-president Hemochandra Singh, founder of Tipra Motha Party Pradyot Manikya Debbarma, and former Nagaland minister Mmhonlumo Kikon were among present on the occasion.

The party leaders noted that the event symbolised a strong resurgence of NPP in the Dima Hasao region and expressed confidence that the people would continue to support a political platform that prioritises identity, dignity, unity, and development.

They expressed gratitude to the people of Dima Hasao for their overwhelming participation and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with local leadership to address the aspirations and developmental needs of the region.
