Public advisory issued against travel to Pynursla

Shillong, Aug 5: East Khasi Hills district administration has issued a public advisory against “non-essential” travel to Pynursla and adjoining areas during the rainy season.

The advisory was issued following the tragic death of five persons of a family in a road mishap at Rngain on the road to Pynursla.

“Unpredictable heavy rainfall accompanied by poor visibility due to dense fog increases the risk of motor vehicle accidents and frequent landslides particularly along Shillong-Pynursla road,” stated the deputy commissioner in the advisory.

Advising the public not to visit the affected area unless absolutely necessary, the DC said, “If travel is unavoidable, proceed with extreme caution and stay updated with latest weather update.”
