Shillong, March 2: An unregistered clinic belonging to one Dr Syed Nazir Shah at Umraling, Ri Bhoi district was shut down after several complaints from villagers in the area.
The Khasi Students’ Union (North Khasi Hills—Eastern Border Area) issued a statement on Monday that KSU leaders visited the ‘clinic’ and found it had no signboard or documents, combined treatment and cooking spaces and stored used syringes inside the room.
They said injections and drips were administered to patients who came for medicines.
“Villages and headmen should not allow such persons, especially when life and community safety are at stake,” the union said, urging local authorities to prevent similar cases.
