Shillong, July 18: The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Meghalaya has called for registration of all real estate projects in the state and warned of penalty on failure in doing so.
In a notification issued to all promoters, developers, and real estate agents operating in the state, the RERA asked them register themselves and their projects as mandated under the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act, 2016.
“Registration with RERA Meghalaya is not only a legal requirement but also a key step toward building credibility and trust in the real estate ecosystem,” RERA Meghalaya chairman said in a statement issued on Friday.

He also warned that failure to comply with the notification may attract penalties and regulatory action under the Act.
Allaying apprehensions, the statement said RERA Meghalaya will help create a transparent, accountable, and efficient framework for the real estate sector as it begins to emerge in the state.
Besides registering real estate projects, promoters, and agents, RERA Mehgalaya is also mandated to check compliance of the Act, adjudication of disputes and protection of homebuyer interests.
This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to responsible growth, consumer protection, and transparency in Meghalaya’s real estate development, it said.
