Shillong, July 24: The recruitment to fill up 700 vacant posts of teachers in lower primary schools across the state will begin soon, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said on Friday.
One of the key steps in the process of recruitment, the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET), was conducted on Friday, Rymbui told reporters.

“We have 700 plus teacher vacancies only in government lower primary schools. The recruitment will begin very soon,” the minister said.
Rymbui also addressed vacancies in aided schools, noting that recruitment in several of these institutions has not taken place for the past few years.
“There are also some vacancies in the aided schools in which recruitment has not happened for the last few years. We will give permission on a case to case basis so recruitment will start in a few months time,” he added.
