Shillong, Sept 27: Come October and commuters of Tura will get to take rides through an aggregator service, Renaka, developed solely for Garo Hills on the lines of Rapido, Uber, etc.

Renaka App was launched as part of the 155th anniversary of Garo Hills Day on September 24.

Formally launched by GHADC Deputy CEM Nikman Marak and Forest EM Ashahel D Shira, the project is part of “Viksit Bharat” initiative by Tura MDC Bernard N Marak and his team of young talented programmers and coders.

“Renaka will try to explore means to strenghten the transport department of GHADC and generate more revenues for the Council. The app will be AI coded and it will explore avenues to create part time jobs for the young people of the town,” the MDC said.

It will create synergy among the autorickshaw and two-wheeler operators as the customer can hire at any location at any time in the town with multiple AI generated options, facilities and security options. It will be a GPS driven app and all rides will be recorded and monitored officially, he added.

Marak said the service will officially start from first week of October as the registrations are still going on for three-wheeler and two-wheeler operators.

Autorickshaw association of Tura and other units are collaborating with the team to bring in multiple online booking system of picking, dropping even delivering products to customers, according to the MDC.

Male/female riders option will also be available as required. The service will also be introduced in rural areas, he said.

He also announced that Garo Hills will see more innovative projects in the future that will focus on transforming lifestyle of the people and create part time jobs for the young people in the nation’s march to becoming a Viksit Bharat.
