Shillong, Oct 6: BJP state president Rikman G Momin on Tuesday said the party has closed applications for the Shillong Lok Sabha byelection and forwarded the list of aspirants to the central leadership.
“Whatever, the application is already closed, whatever the applicants are there we have already sent to the central leadership,” Momin said.
He was responding to reports that the party is considering its chief spokesperson and former IPS officer M Kharkrang for the upcoming byelection.
Asked whether Kharkrang is being considered, Momin said, “I don’t know.”
According to Momin, nine names have been submitted to the central leadership for consideration for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat.
Asked whether former Nongthymmai legislator Jemino Mawthoh is among those being considered, he said, “I cannot tell you right now in front of you.”
