Shillong, April 12: Cabinet Minister and South Shillong legislator Sanbor Shullai on Saturday inaugurated two link roads at Rilbong locality in the city.
The work includes widening, metaling, and blacktopping of a link road connecting the four-lane national highway, and a motorable road from the main entrance gate of Art & Culture to Rilbong community hall-Umshyrpi bridge road. The roads were built at the cost of Rs 6.33 crore.
In his inaugural address, Shullai said, “For the past eight years, I have adopted a new policy to serve the people. My new policy is work more, talk less.”
Shullai recalled that the foundation stone was laid in 2021, and despite opposition, the project was completed.
He expressed gratitude to the dorbar shnongs, local NGOs, PWD, and the people of Rilbong, Kench’s Trace, Oxford, and Greater Laban area for their cooperation.
He also thanked the landowners, who have parted their land free of cost.
He credited the union defence minister, Rajnath Singh, for issuing the no objection certificate (NOC) for the project.
“The BJP is first to see and help the interest of the general public,” Shullai quoted Singh as saying.
