Shillong, Oct 4: Four teenage girls have been killed after a speeding mini dumper rammed into them at Thadrang village of Ri-Bhoi on Friday night. Two others, including a 13 year girl, remain in critical condition.
The dumper truck ML05-AC-8447 was coming from Jowai side and proceeding towards Bhoirymbong when it lost control and rammed into five persons in the village which falls under Mawlasnai police outpost jurisdiction.
Three girls died on the spot after being rammed by the truck. Another girl who was rushed to Bhoirymbong CHC hospital died from her injuries on Saturday morning. One other girl remains in critical condition.
The truck that hit the girls also capsized after the accident leaving both driver and helper with injuries. The vehicle has been seized by police.

The injured victims are Miss Iupharisa Nongrum, 11 yrs, D/o Krimon Nongrum, R/o Thadrang Madan Lyngbah, PO – Mawlasnai, PS – Umiam, Ri-Bhoi. She remains in critical care.
