Shillong, Oct 29: The section of SSA teachers demanding service security has been assured by chief minister Conrad Sangma of further discussion on their demand before the government finalise its decision to end the current impasse.

The MSSASA has served a two-month “ultimatum” to the state government for framing a policy to ensure service security to over 13,000 SSA teachers in the state.

Another section of SSA teachers, who recently suspended their 21-day-long strike on government’s assurance, had been demanding 100% hike in salary.

“The chief minister assured us of his government’s commitment to the issue and that we would be invited again for discussion before the government’s final decision,” Rymbai said in a video statement.

Terming the meeting as productive and constructive, Rymbai said also expressed gratitude to all the cabinet ministers for supporting the cause of SSA teachers cause in the recent “cabinet on the move” held at Resubelpara in North Garo Hills district.

Meanwhile, the association also welcomed the government’s decision to relax age of SSA teachers from 37 to 45 years to be eligible to apply for teaching jobs in government schools from lower primary to higher secondary level.
