State gears up for ADC polls on Feb 21

Security forces deployed in critical and vulnerable polling stations

Shillong, Feb 19: The state government has made good progress in preparation for the autonomous district council (ADC) elections scheduled for February 21.

Polling material dispatch, receipt, and counting arrangements are in place at ISBT Shillong, as per a review conducted by the chief secretary for East Khasi Hills in KHADC polls.

ISBT Shillong will serve as the main counting centre, except for Sohra and Pynursla subdivisions, where polling-related activities will be managed locally.

Meanwhile, security forces have been deployed across all critical and vulnerable polling stations.

Authorities have assured that district-wise deployment is being handled in coordination with local police and security agencies.

While specific figures on border security deployment are pending, officials confirmed that adequate forces are in place to address any potential concerns.

The state government has allocated over ₹22 crore for election logistics, security, and overall poll management.

With heightened surveillance and strict enforcement of election guidelines, authorities are working to ensure a fair and peaceful electoral process.
