State pitches for Lakadong turmeric, wild honey at Delhi fair

Shillong, March 11: The Meghalaya Pavilion at AAHAR 2026 fair being held in New Delhi was inaugurated with stakeholders seeking attention of national buyers for Lakadong turmeric, wild honey and other organic produces of the state.

The pavilion at Asia’s flagship food‑and‑hospitality trade fair at Bharat Mandapam was formally inaugurated by Principal Secretary in-charge Community & Rural Development Sampath Kumar in presence of Meghalaya House officials.

Praising the PRIME incubator and Meghalaya State Agriculture Marketing Board for lifting rural start‑ups toward commercial supply chains, Kumar said, “These kinds of events are very helpful for the entrepreneurs because we can connect our culture and significant values to the rest of the world.”

On day one, over 1,500 people paid visit at the pavilion loaded with fresh strawberries, black pepper, lemongrass tea, pineapple juice, millet flour and handicrafts, all backed by DoFP, MEGNOLIA and Meghalaya Collectives.

Kumar credited Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s “entrepreneur‑first” push for making the debut possible.

PRIME entrepreneur Victoria Sohphoh called the slot “a platform to showcase our products and our hard work,” adding thanks to state agencies that underwrite participation.

Co‑hosted by ITPO and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, AAHAR runs B2B sessions until March 14, giving growers direct access to branding and packaging specialists as Meghalaya diversifies markets beyond its regular World Food India circuit.
