CM urges potential beneficiaries to prepare documentations: Housing for All
Shillong, Dec 3: As Meghalaya aims to achieve 100% implementation of construction of houses for the poor under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), the state government has also geared up for upcoming survey to prepare a new list of beneficiaries for next phase of the Central flagship scheme.
Chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday declared the state as “survey ready” under PMAY-G as he asked authorities concerned to ensure that no eligible beneficiaries should be left out of the survey.
“All efforts should be carried out by all stakeholders to ensure that no one is left behind in the survey,” he said while urging all potential PMAY-G beneficiaries to prepare necessary documentations and actively participate in the survey.
It is mandatory for all potential beneficiaries to provide required documents i.e. Aadhaar card, MGNREGA job card, bank account details, Swachh Bharat Mission number, Voter ID, caste certificate, affidavit declaring no permanent house ownership, etc.
The chief minister also urged all organisations at village level including VEC, VDC, VO, SHG to actively participate in the exercise.
The chief minister’s appeal comes in the wake of completion of mapping of village-level surveyors, who will be the key contact in conducting the survey and updating Awaas+ 2018 list.
This will ensure registration of all deserving households and villagers who were left out and uncovered in the previous survey.
This effort came after Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Rural Housing Division extended PMAY-G for another five years till 2028-29.
Meghalaya having saturated all previous targets will be among the first few where survey will be initiated, stated an official release.
Since the launch of PMAY-G in 2016, Meghalaya has sanctioned 186,283 houses, achieving saturation of targets under the 2018 Awaas+ survey.
So far, 113,158 (60.75%) houses have been completed, with the remaining under various stages of construction. The state aims to complete all pending houses by January 2025, according to the release.
Altogether 6,354 Surveyors against 6,426 villages have been mapped so far to update Awaas+ database using revised exclusion criteria and eKYC face-based authentication.
The exercise of mapping of surveyors was conducted by the State Rural Employment Society (SRES), the nodal implementing agency under Community and Rural Development (C&RD) department.
The Housing Mission is one of the five core development goals envisioned by the Government of Meghalaya. Through this Mission, the State seeks to tackle multidimensional poverty and set a benchmark for progress in rural housing and allied services, the release said.
Along with PMAY-G, a series of other benefits would be extended to the potential PMAY-G beneficiaries as convergence with other government schemes to ensure comprehensive support for beneficiaries.
