Shillong, Apr 15: The state government will soon take a call on the relocation of 342 families of Harijan colony from Them Iew Mawlong.
“We will take a call soon. Don’t worry,” assured deputy chief minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar while speaking to reporters on Monday.
The minister further said a meeting will be held in the near future to discuss the issue.

On April 8, the Meghalaya High Court had adjourned the hearing on the case related to the proposed relocation of 342 families of Harijan colony from Them Iew Mawlong till April 28, to enable the state government and the Harijan Panchayat Committee to explore possibility of settlement.
Additionally, the state government had recently requested the Centre to consider allocating at least 3 acres of unutilized defence land, which is located just opposite a petrol pump at Iew Mawlong.
