State to present Vision Document 2047 soon

Shillong, Feb 26: Along with other states of the country, Meghalaya too is preparing its Vision Document 2047 and will present it next month.

“Meghalaya along with other states are making Vision Document 2047 as Prime Minister has the vision that by 2047, India will become a developed country,” Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr Sukanta Majumdar told reporters on Wednesday.

Underscoring the importance of this exercise, he said, “Without a developed North East, the dream of a developed Bharat cannot be achieved.”

Informing that vision documents prepared by the Northeastern states are almost ready, he said Union DoNER minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is likely to visit the state on March 11 or 12 and release the vision document along with chief minister Conrad K Sangma.

“I believe this Vision Document will pave the way for achieving a Viksit Meghalaya and ultimately we will reach the Viksit Bharat,” Dr Majumdar asserted.

The union minister of state also informed that the chief minister of Meghalaya is heading a ministerial task force on tourism.

“The chief minister is very keen on focussing on developmental works under DoNER ministry and develop tourism in the state,” he said.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the North East over 60 times so far besides assigning central ministers to regularly visit the region, Dr Majumdar said, “I believe in the near future, the NE states including Meghalaya will become the power centre of our country.”
