Sub-centres to get anti-rabies vaccines

Shillong, Sep18: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Tuesday said anti- rabies vaccines will soon be available at sub-centre level.

Reacting to the death of a mid level health provider (MLHP) on Monday due to rabies, the minister said, the medical practitioner was identified as Gracetyfull Marngar (32) from West Khasi Hills adding that she was “saddened and disturbed’ by the news.

Marngar was bitten by a stray dog two months ago.

“Yesterday we lost one of our MLHPs. She was bitten by a dog two months ago and for some reasons did not take the anti-rabies vaccination,” she said.

Marngar was working at Tynghor sub-centre.
