SWGH Teachers’ Day celebration honors outstanding educators

Ampati, Sep 5: An event to honor the unwavering commitment of teachers across the district was held at the Multi Facility Centre in Ampati, on Thursday.

Several educators received the prestigious District Awards for their exceptional contributions to the field of education during the vibrant celebration organised by the Office of the District School Education Officer, South West Garo Hills.

Among the distinguished awardees were Sanjib A. Sangma, Assistant Teacher of Boldamgre Deficit Secondary School, Grebingham B. Sangma, Headmaster of Ampati Deficit UP School, and Jahan Miah, Headmaster of Kukurmua Government LP School, recognized for their tireless efforts and commitment. Adding to the accolades, Victor Dorana T. Sangma, Assistant Teacher and Scout & Guide Teacher at St. Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School, Garobadha, was celebrated as the Best Scout Master, while Silje Ch. Momin, Assistant Teacher and Guide Captain at Birin Nuchong Secondary School, Ampati, received the Best Guide Captain award.

The event was graced by Sanjay A Sangma, MLA of Mahendraganj and Advisor to the Government of Meghalaya, who served as the Chief Guest. He congratulated the awardees and expressed deep gratitude to all the teachers for their selfless service in shaping the future of the region. 

In his address, Sanjay A. Sangma emphasised the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the character and destiny of students. He underscored the government’s commitment to educational progress, proudly announcing significant strides made under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. Among the key achievements are the recruitment of an adequate number of teachers under Mission Education and the repair of 250 Government LP Schools in the South West Garo Hills. He mentioned that these initiatives signify the government’s unwavering dedication to advancing the educational infrastructure and ensuring quality education for all.

The chief guest further highlighted the remarkable achievements of students from the region, many of whom have earned places at prestigious institutions such as IIM and IIT. He also urged students to emulate their teachers and set ambitious goals for their futures.

The celebration brought together teachers, students, and staff from various schools, all united in honoring the pivotal role educators play in nurturing young minds.

The Teachers’ Day celebration concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude for the vital role educators play in shaping the society.
