Teen kills elder brother in Tura

Tura, July 26: An argument between two brothers ended in a tragedy when one of them, a 17 year old boy, fatally attacked the elder brother with an axe in Deran Gittim, Chitoktak locality of Tura on Friday night.

The victim, identified as Jekil M. Sangma, succumbed to his injuries shortly after the attack.

According to police and based on statements from the family, the incident stemmed from a heated argument involving Jekil who reportedly under influence of alcohol had an arguement with his mother  and other family members. During the heated exchange his younger brother, in a fit of rage, struck Jekil with an axe, inflicting severe injuries.

Jekil was rushed to Tura Civil Hospital, where medical staff declared him dead on arrival. The accused fled the scene immediately after the incident but was produced by family members at Chandmary Beat House this morning.
