Shillong, Aug 7: One person identified as Sirajul Haque (36), a resident of Barpeta Assam, was arrested at Nongpoh in Ri Bhoi district along with 49.44 grams of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 3.5 lakhs, from 5 soap case boxes on Thursday.
One Scooty (Registration No. ML10C-4833), one mobile phone, and one bag were also seized from their possession.
The district police also arrested two individuals, Franky Marsing, 27, and Shan Sylliang, 24, both residents of Nongpoh, from Byrnihat for attempting to send the parcel containing 2.047 kg of ganja via courier to Chennai.
The ganja was recovered from a car (Registration No. ML-10C-3646).
Both cases have been registered under the NDPS Act, and investigations are underway to uncover the networks behind these drug trafficking operations.
