Training on Environment Laws and pollution impact held in Tura

Tura, Dec 9:  A Training programme on various provisions of Environment Laws and Harmful impacts of pollution and environment degradation on Human Rights was held at District and Sessions Court Complex, West Garo Hills Tura on 9th December, 2024.

The program was organized by District Legal Services Authority, West Garo Hills Tura in collaboration with Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority.

Deputy Legal Aid Defence Counsel, DLSA Tura Walchirik B Sangma mentioned that the Environmental Protection Act was enacted in the year 1986 and the act has been passed as a response to the Bhopal Gas leak. She further informed that the act relates to the protection, management, conservation and improvement of the environment and prevent hazards to human beings and other living creatures and property. She also urged every citizen to protect the environment and prevent environmental pollution in the region.
