Tripura minister to introduce online cab services on September 3

Agartala, Aug 29: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury will launch online cab services from the airport here on September 3, an official said on Saturday.

The facility will also be available from Agartala and Jogendranagar railway stations, he said.

“The decision to introduce the online cab services was taken at a meeting of the Transport Department held at the state secretariat on Friday,” Transport Department’s Additional Secretary Subrata Chowdhury said.

The meeting was chaired by Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.

The additional secretary said the government was making efforts to introduce a smooth and appropriate public transport system in line with changing times and the growing use of digital technology.

“This will also ensure that passengers at the airport will not face harassment,” he said.

The fare rates will be finalised after obtaining rate charts from different transport unions, the official said.

Charging additional fare beyond the approved rates will attract a penalty, he said.

Around 4,500 passengers use the airport here, while the Agartala railway station records at least 10,000 footfalls daily.(PTI)
