Tura cop trapped inside destroyed car rescued

Tura, Oct 27: A police constable severely injured and trapped inside his overturned car near Rongram, 15 kms from Tura, has been rescued by passing commuters and rushed to hospital for medical treatment on Sunday night.

The victim, severely bleeding and unconscious was found inside a badly damaged maruti car (ML08 J 0962) at Goeragre, near the tri junction to Chibragre, shortly before midnight. He is suspected to have been speeding when the mishap occured.

A local media person and his friends who were returning from the Wangala festival celebrations at Gondenggre village, near Jengjal, spotted the capsized car on the road with a man under it.

Together with other passing commuters they managed to free the injured man and rushed him to the Tura civil hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The victim has been identified as UB constable Barnath Ch Marak of Meghalaya Police. He reportedly hails from Matchakolgre area of Tura.
