CM unveils 3D architectural drawing of Tura Secretariat
Shillong, May 27: The state government has upgraded its plan for a secretariat at Tura from earlier “mini” to an “additional” secretariat for the people of Garo Hills with offices of all departments.
Chief minister Conrad K Sangma informed this while unveiling the architectural drawing of Tura Secretariat at Samanda and Williamnagar in East Garo Hills district on Tuesday.

“Initially, the project was conceptualised as mini Secretariat, but the government felt that the infrastructure should be upgraded to accommodate all departmental offices, chief minister’s office, ministers’ offices and bureaucrats’ offices,” he said.

Assuring that Tura Secretariat will ensure delivery of maximum government services to the people of Garo Hills, he said, “People from Garo Hills have to travel to Shillong for different official works. The purpose of Tura Secretariat will be to ensure that people from Garo Hills can easily get their official paper works submitted for further processing at Tura itself.”
Estimated cost of the Tura Secretariat was revised from earlier Rs 30 crore to Rs 150 crore plus now.

The chief minister also informed that Tura Convention Centre will be adjacent to the Tura Secretariat, as displayed in the 3D architectural drawings.
First phase of Tura Secretariat will be completed by January 2027, he assured.
