UDP condoles death of Lapang

Shillong, Sept 15: The United Democratic Party has expressed profound sorrow over the demise of former Chief Minister D D Lapang, who passed away on Friday.

The party remembered Lapang as a towering statesman dedicated to serving the people and advancing the progress of Meghalaya.

“Dr Lapang embodied integrity, humility, and visionary leadership and his contributions to education, healthcare, rural development, and infrastructure uplifted countless lives and strengthened the foundations of our state. He was not only a political leader but a mentor in unifying force across communities,” UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh said.

The UDP extended heartfelt condolences to Lapang’s bereaved family, particularly his wife, Amethyst Lynda Jomes Blah, and prayed for their strength and comfort during this period of grief.
