Union MoS calls for better reach of Central schemes in Meghalaya

Shillong, May 27: Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse has called for better reach of benefits under different Central schemes in Meghalaya.

The minister reviewed implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes across multiple government departments in East Garo Hills on Wednesday.

The review meeting at Williamnagar covered schemes under the Public Works Department, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Housing, Fisheries, Soil and Water Conservation, Health, Social Welfare, Water Resources, C&RD Blocks, Planning, Sports, Tourism, among others.

Assessing progress of the schemes, the minister urged officials to ensure benefits reach every household.

Underscoring the importance of regular monitoring, she said, “There is a need to review the implementation of schemes in time in order to maintain transparency.”

District officials presented status reports on ongoing projects and flagged challenges in last-mile delivery.

The minister directed departments to expedite pending works and strengthen coordination to avoid delays.

The visit is part of the Centre’s outreach to monitor on-ground execution of flagship schemes and address implementation gaps at the district level.
