USTM ranks 18th in Fortune 100 National Institutional Index 2026

Shillong, Feb 17: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has been ranked 18th in the Fortune 100 National Institutional Index 2026, earning recognition for its work in advancing education aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the UN 2030 Agenda.

The index was released on February 11 at the Global Conference on Education for Sustainable Future in Bangkok, held at the United Nations Conference Centre. USTM Vice Chancellor Prof. G D Sharma received the certificate of recognition during the event.

The ceremony was attended by Bhutan Education Minister Lyonpo Yeezang De Thapa, Australian Deputy Head of Mission to Thailand Andrew Egan, Belgian Ambassador to Thailand Michel Parys, SDG Council chairman Dr. Datchnamoorthy Ramu, SDG Council Secretary General Gokulnath Mathiyazhagan, and Roohi Mohazzab Ghani, founder of The Children Movement for Climate Compassion.

The Fortune 100 National Institutional Index ranks institutions based on academic excellence and innovation, governance and leadership, research impact, and commitment to sustainability aligned with UN SDGs.

USTM, established in 2011 as the first state private university in science and technology in Northeast India, was accredited with an “A Grade” by NAAC in 2021. University officials said the ranking reflected its work in integrating SDGs into curricula, research, campus operations, and community outreach.
