Gaya Ji (Bihar), May 5: Vietnamese President To Lam, who is on a three-day tour of India, meditated under the sacred Bodhi Tree here and prayed at the Mahabodhi Temple on Tuesday, officials said.
Lam was earlier received at the airport here by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and other senior officials.
“The Vietnamese President offered prayers at the UNESCO World Heritage Mahabodhi Temple, meditated beneath the sacred Bodhi Tree, and also visited the Vietnamese monastery,” an official said.
“The spiritual, cultural, and heritage city of Gaya Ji warmly honours the arrival of the esteemed President of Vietnam. This historic arrival will undoubtedly take the already deep India-Vietnam relations to new heights,” the CM said in a post on X.
Former Bihar legislative assembly speaker Prem Kumar, who represents the Gaya Town constituency, said it was a matter of pride that the Vietnamese President visited “this land of knowledge”.
Lam is scheduled to leave for New Delhi later in the day, hold wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, and also meet President Droupadi Murmu in the national capital, the officials said.
