Shillong, Dec 17: The National People’s Party’ (NPP) is open to any possibility of former chief minister Mukul Sangma joining the party, according to NPP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar.
“I am the happiest man if he comes to us,” Dhar told reporters when asked about growing speculations about Sangma shifting his allegiance to NPP.
However, Dhar said it’s “too early to comment” on such a possibility given the next state assembly election still two-and-a-half-year away.
On Mukul’s recent remark that he was asked to drop Dhar and Prestone Tynsong from the cabinet during a previous Congress regime, Dhar chose to focus on his respect for the senior leader.
“I respect Mukul Sangma, he is a tall and veteran leader… I don’t want to talk about the past,” he said, highlighting their friendly relations. “I am friends with him, and he is friends with me.”
