Mathura (UP), Aug 9: A woman drugged her husband with sedative-mixed milk and killed him with an iron pestle, later dumped his body in a forest because he opposed their daughter’s relationship with a delivery boy, police said on Sunday.
According to police, the woman identified as Naina Soni (40) allegedly conspired with her minor daughter (16 years old) and the daughter’s lover, Vimal Chaudhary, a delivery boy, to abduct the deceased, Manoj Soni (42), with the intention of killing him. Following a probe, all three were arrested on Saturday, police said.
They were produced before a court, which sent Naina to judicial custody and the minor to a juvenile home, police said.
During questioning, Naina allegedly told police that on April 18 they gave Manoj a sedative mixed in milk and, after he fell asleep, they killed him by repeatedly striking him with an iron pestle.
Police said the daughter and Vimal then allegedly wrapped the body in a blanket and took it on a scooter to the forest near Akrur village along the Yamuna. They allegedly burnt the body and buried the remains near the river. However, the rising water level in the Yamuna made it difficult for police to recover the remains, officials said.
A blanket was recovered from the spot, while police found ashes of burnt clothes and documents outside the house. Since the body has not yet been recovered, police are currently treating the case as one of abduction with intent to murder.
Police said the case will be altered to include murder charges if sufficient evidence, including the recovery of the body or other material evidence, is found.
Police are digging in several places in a forest area to locate it and collect evidence.
So far, police have recovered the scooter allegedly used to transport the body, a blanket in which it was wrapped and evidence indicating that the victim’s clothes and documents were burnt in an attempt to destroy evidence, officials said.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Govind Nagar, Ajay Verma, said Manoj, a resident of Ganesh Dham Colony in Jaisinghpura under the Govind Nagar police station, went missing after a quarrel at his home on April 18. His elder brother Rambabu lodged a missing-person complaint on July 11 after Manoj, his wife and their minor daughter had suddenly disappeared.
During the investigation, police found Naina and her daughter suspicious.
On August 7, Rambabu lodged a case under Section 140(1) (kidnapping or abducting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said the investigation revealed that Manoj’s daughter was allegedly in a relationship with Vimal Chaudhary, son of Ramveer Singh. Manoj allegedly opposed the relationship, was angry with his wife and daughter, and would assault them, police said. (PTI)
