Guwahati, May 26: In a remarkable feat of engineering and execution, Wootz Buildsys, a leader in innovative steel infrastructure solutions, has completed the construction of a landmark stadium arena for the 25th Silver Jubilee edition of the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland—within just 90 days.

Commissioned by the Nagaland government, the project was executed in Kisama, the heritage village near Kohima, ahead of the December 2024 Hornbill Festival. The arena was designed to enhance the scale and impact of the festival, which celebrates the cultural heritage of Nagaland’s tribes and draws thousands of visitors from around the world.

The arena was built using 400 metric tons (400,000 kg) of structural steel, and transported across more than 2,200 kilometres via 20 trailers through mountainous, landslide-prone regions. Construction took place under continuous rainfall and in rugged terrain, making the timeline all the more impressive.

“Delivering this project under such tight timelines and in a challenging environment required meticulous planning and tireless execution,” said Anurag Agarwal, Founder of Wootz Buildsys. “We are proud to have contributed to an event that is a symbol of India’s rich tribal legacy.”

Despite severe logistical hurdles, Wootz managed end-to-end execution—from conceptual design and fabrication to site delivery and final installation—in just three months. Work continued around the clock in adverse conditions, with the team demonstrating a strong problem-solving approach and commitment to excellence.

The Hornbill Festival arena is not only a functional space but also a cultural statement—representing how modern infrastructure can be built in harmony with tradition. Officials and cultural stakeholders have hailed the project as a milestone for event infrastructure in the Northeast.
