Work on PHC in progress: Ampareen

Shillong, Mar 13: Upgradation of Manggakgre Sub-Centre in West Garo Hills district into a Public Health Centre (PHC) is in progress, health minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said in reply to a question in the state assembly on Thursday.

After completion, the PHC will be equipped with out-patient department (OPD), 10-bed in-patient department (IPD), labour room, lab, emergency service, pharmacy and residential quarters for medical and para medical staff, etc., the minister said.

The foundation for the PHC was laid in 2022, the tender floated in January 2023 and the work began in January 2025.

“The progress of work is 85%,” Lyngdoh said.

Meanwhile, it is functioning as a sub centre.

The required manpower for the PHC will be deployed after completion of the building, she assured.

She also noted TMC MLA Rupa Marak’s request for speeding up the upgradation process.
