YouTuber Dhruv Rathee detained by Delhi Police ahead of CJP protest: Sources

New Delhi, Oct 10: YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was detained by the police from his residence in Gurugram’s Sector 56 on Saturday ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, sources said.

Rathee, who lives abroad, has come to join the demonstration, which has prompted heightened security arrangements across the national capital.

According to the police, Rathee was detained by three Crime Branch teams at around 6 am. He was then taken to a Crime Branch office and questioned for about an hour. A convoy of three cars with Rathee in one of them then headed towards Delhi.

Earlier in the week, Delhi Police denied permission for the protest, citing security considerations and procedural requirements.

The police on Saturday detained several protesters and politicians who were headed to Jantar Mantar protest site. (PTI)
