Zubeen Garg dies at 52 after scuba diving accident in Singapore

Guwahati, Sept 19: The Assamese music and cultural icon, Zubeen Garg, has passed away in a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore.

Reports indicate he was rescued from the sea by Singaporean police and urgently transported to a hospital. Despite intensive medical efforts, he could not be revived.

Garg was in Singapore for the North East Festival and was scheduled to perform on September 20th. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the Assamese community and the Indian music industry, leaving behind an immeasurable void.

Tributes are pouring in from across the nation. Former Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora expressed his grief on X, writing, “Deeply shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of our cultural icon Zubeen Garg… Rest in peace, Legend.”
