Leopard found dead in Guwahati, cause of death uncertain

Guwahati, Nov 22: A leopard was found dead near Segunbori Hills, linking Adingiri Road and Doimuguri Primary School under the Fatasil Amnari police station in Guwahati on Friday morning.

The exact cause of the leopard’s death is yet to be determined. Locals reported that the animal might have fallen from the top of the hills following a fight on Thursday night. The leopard was discovered around 7:45 AM, and forest officials were promptly informed.

A team led by Forest Range Officer Hemanta Adhikary recovered the carcass. The body was cremated in the jungles of Fatasil Ambari after a postmortem examination.

“We acted swiftly and have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the cause of death,” said Range Officer Hemanta Adhikari. “While we suspect the death resulted from a fall, the postmortem report will provide the conclusive cause,” he added.
