Garo Hills joins celebration of National Constitution Day

Tura, Nov 28: The National Constitution Day, marking the adoption of Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949 was celebrated at DRDA Conference Hall, West Garo Hills district on Tuesday evening. The function was organized by the District Administration, West Garo Hills Tura.

Further, the gathering was led by the Deputy Commissioner, Jagdish Chelani in the presence of Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, Abraham T Sangma, Additional Deputy Commissioners’  along with other Officers of the district to read the Preamble reaffirming their commitment to the ideals enshrined in this supreme document.

In his brief speech, the Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills Jagdish Chelani said that the Constitution has completed 75 years, but reiterated that he has greater reverence for the kind of effort that the constitution has taken up the values enshrined in the constitution which serves as a guiding principles and leads towards progress, justice and harmony.

Moreover, the Exemplary Services of the West Garo Hills, District Police, Border Security Force (BSF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), including individual recognition Priyanka W Sangma, MPS, Ishan Gupta, IPS, Naman Kumar, IPS and Saurav Kr Saini, IPS were also acknowledged and felicitated for their valiant contribution in their service to the nation to mark the 75 years of India’s Constitution during the short function.
