Dhar appreciates role of drivers

Shillong, Dec 8: The profession of driving, although crucial in almost every sphere of life, hardly gets its due acknowledgement. Not taking it for granted, deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has expressed his deep appreciation to drivers and their contributions in respective jobs.

“We don’t consider you as drivers, but as masters because if you drive wrong way, we are gone,” said Dhar, also in charge of Transport department, while addressing Meghalaya Govt Drivers’ Welfare Association at the U Soso Tham Auditorium on Saturday.

Asserting the need for good drivers, the deputy chief minister said, “The best driver is not the one who drive on the highway, the best driver is one who drives on the rough roads. When you are expert to drive on rough roads then highway is nothing for you.”

Dhar also said he was the second in the state to drive a car at just 9 years old. He informed that over 398 drivers are working for his company.

He also appreciated the drivers for having patience and for sacrificing they are making while doing their jobs.
